Jupiter in Leo

Now to Aug 11, 2015

Jupiter is the largest of all the true planets. Its mass is greater than all the rest of the planets combined. If it was only 20% larger it would develop enough heat at its core to be a star. Astrologically, Jupiter is the planet of expansion, growth and optimism. Known as “The Greater Benefic,” it symbolizes good luck and forutne. In the ancient Indian language Sanskrit Jupiter is called “guru” or teacher. This fits its association with the higher mind, philosophy, truth and religion. Perhaps Jupiter’s good fortune derives from the capacity to give us a larger view in which to see the world.

Leo is a sign of individual expression and creativity. Jupiter’s presence here can emphasize the power of one person to make a statement that will be heard by the world. The capacity to get the world stand up and take notice is likely to be expanded during this time. Jupiter’s pursuit of meaning can be enhanced by personal risk and an opening of the heart, with which Leo is associated.

The negative side, however, can be excessive glorification of the ego. Pride in self is healthy, but boundless pride is a blinding light that darkens, rather than illuminates. This can be a time of “bread and circuses,” when meaningful questions are buried in the noise of spectable. Serious inquiry may not come easily when bombast rules the land.

Appropriately, big-time film-makers George Lucas, Federico Fellini, Dino De Laurentis and Penny Marshall were born with Jupiter in Leo. Stars Elizabeth Taylor, Peter O’Toole, Robert DeNiro, Catherine Deneuve, Willem Dafoe, Bette Davis, Geena Davis, Anne Bancroft and Pamela Anderson are also part of this group. Singers Diana Ross, Celine Dion, Mick Jagger, Roger Daltry, Johnny Cash and Joe Cocker certainly fit the Jupiter in Leo profile, as do guitarists Jimmy Page and Keith Richards.

Spirituality, sports and politics have their share of grand Jupiter in Leo figures. Pope John Paul II and Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh used considerable media savvy to lead their respective flocks. Billie Jean King, Arthur Ashe and Joe Montana were very different, but equally inspiring athletes. The political stage has been occupied by a diverse group of Jupiter in Leo folks, including Angela Davis, Eleanor Roosevelt, Mario Cuomo, Pierre Trudeau, George Wallace, Donald Rumsfeld and Juan and Eva Peron. Big bucks and big ideas include another diverse group of people born with Jupiter in Leo: Bill Gates, Carlo Benetton, Simone de Beauvoir, Ray Bradbury and Rudoph Steiner.

Daily Planet Tracker: Moon in Leo, Nov 12th to Nov 14th

Moon in Leo

Nov 12, 2014 to Nov 14, 2014

The lions are out today. Stand in the Sun and shake loose your mane. Leo is exuberant, courageous, playful and full of heart. It’s a Moontime that inspires heroic feats. What makes a hero? A crazy willingness to do what only you can do. I like how Bob Dylan sang it, “If I’d paid attention to what others were thinking, the heart in me would have died. But I was much too stubborn to ever be governed by enforced insanity. Someone had to reach for the rising star, I guess it was up to me.” More often we’re like that proverbial cartoon figure, momentarily gliding on air, ten stories high, then plummeting the minute we realize what we’re doing-self-consciousness and pride spoil the show. Avoid those egos squaring off around you. Lose yourself in the spontaneity of the moment. Be innocent and happy as a child. Play will nourish your heart.

Get A Jump on Tomorrow, Your Horoscopes for Wednesday, Sept. 10th

We want our actions to be practical today. However, we may have a hard time differentiating reality from what we desire. Although the ambitious Aries Moon encourages us to be proactive, we could build our plans on unrealistic visions as magnetic Venus opposes surreal Neptune. Our perceptions aren’t as accurate as we believe because of this heightened state of fantasy. We are drawn to experiences beyond the physical now, including magical encounters with music, poetry and nature.

Aries Horoscope

(Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Although you often know exactly what you want in love, your romantic goals aren’t very clear now. You could idealize your desires today, which is a lot of fun as long as you don’t assume they must be fulfilled. Too many concrete expectations hinder your current metaphysical journey. However, going with the flow may reward you with a very beautiful experience that can resonate in your heart for a long time to come.

Taurus Horoscope

(Apr 20 – May 20)

You may misread an emotional interaction today unless you’re paying careful attention to the subtle cues in every conversation. You might be feeling some ambiguity with respect to a developing relationship. Allowing your thoughts to wander around in the realms of possibility, although an enjoyable distraction, won’t necessarily lead to personal satisfaction. Instead, focus on the most immediate issues at hand in order to set your train back on the well-traveled tracks of reality.

Gemini Horoscope

(May 21 – Jun 20)

Although you plan to discuss practical issues at work today, your colorful fantasies are so enticing that you have trouble staying on topic. You may assume your position is clear but your coworkers might misunderstand your message. Unfortunately, you could convince yourself that further explanation isn’t necessary. However, it’s easy to avoid problems by unfolding your ideas one at a time and asking for feedback as you go along. There’s no reason to bury your dreams as long as you keep them in check while discussing more mundane matters.

Cancer Horoscope

(Jun 21 – Jul 22)

Your schedule could fall apart at the seams today if you don’t allow time for everything that needs to be accomplished. You might not be as prepared as you prefer as people aren’t sharing their expectations with you. Instead of floundering your way through the day in uncertainty, ask concrete questions to receive specific answers. Your friends and associates may surprise you with their down-to-earth responses that can save the day.

Leo Horoscope

(Jul 23 – Aug 22)

You could be living in a bubble of fantasy, even if you believe your self-assessment is grounded in reality. It may even be challenging to get a clear handle on what you can bring to the table. Unfortunately, facts are colored by your feelings now, and it’s nearly impossible to separate your objective perceptions from subjective opinions unless you make a conscious decision to do so. Thankfully, the potential for creating meaning in your life grows stronger when your intuitive visions are fully integrated.

Virgo Horoscope

(Aug 23 – Sep 22)

Normally, you can deftly manage the details of a complex project and keep all the separate tasks in order. However, it may be more effective now to save your critical analysis for another time. Instead of trying to limit your thoughts, give yourself permission to space out and explore unknown territory. Your imagination is your greatest asset today, so don’t be afraid to put it to work. The most creative solutions to your current dilemmas will be the ones that arise out of unstructured thinking. Listening to your intuition allows you to tap into your unexpressed ingenuity.

Libra Horoscope

(Sep 23 – Oct 22)

You are quite introspective today as your key planet Venus takes center stage in your 12th House of Privacy. If you must spend the day with others, you can still withdraw into your dream world while appearing as socially astute as ever. However, balancing your work obligations with your current desire to be alone might be a challenge. It’s not an either / or proposition; you can collaborate with your peers and still retreat into your imagination for inspiration whenever you wish.

Scorpio Horoscope

(Oct 23 – Nov 21)

You may have a very specific idea about which activities you want to share with your friends now, but your job might not give you the freedom you desire. You’re not one to run out on your responsibilities once you have made a heartfelt commitment. However, you can rearrange your schedule to finish up your work early without negatively impacting your productivity. Following through on your word is vital to your integrity, but so is pursuing your dreams.

Sagittarius Horoscope

(Nov 22 – Dec 21)

Conditions on the home front can be all too confusing, but they aren’t your biggest problem today. Things are not as they appear now and it’s tricky to gauge the relative importance of a particular thought. Taking a clever idea and turning it into an overly complicated strategy won’t make it any more successful. Keep your message simple and succinct. Misunderstandings that come to light in the next few days will make you glad that you strive for simplicity today.

Capricorn Horoscope

(Dec 22 – Jan 19)

Other people attempt to use ambitious schemes to lure you away from your previous commitments today. Unfortunately, you could grow overwhelmed if you can’t control your personal desires. There are days when you can build the road as well as travel along it. However, today’s planetary patterns are meant for exploring territories that are off the beaten track. Spend a bit of time wandering around, knowing that you’ll be back on the highway and heading toward your destination again in just a few days.

Aquarius Horoscope

(Jan 20 – Feb 18)

Although you have specific goals and a concrete plan in place, you can’t seem to find the inner resolve to achieve your goals today. People can see a gentler side of you as your hidden emotional tenderness slips through the cracks in your defenses. Instead of fighting it, consciously let others inside your otherwise impenetrable walls. Vulnerability is your strength now, not your weakness.

Pisces Horoscope

(Feb 19 – Mar 20)

Today you might fall in love with a beautiful person, a spiritual practice or a fleeting vision. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that you can tell the difference between reality and fantasy now. Nevertheless, fact and fiction might just morph into a magical moment that opens your heart. Don’t try to figure out what’s happening; just relax and enjoy the experience. Untangle the threads in the tapestry of life on another day after the clouds of illusion drift away.

Planet Tracker: Mercury in Leo, July 31 to August 15

Planet Tracker

Mercury in Leo

Jul 31, 2014 to Aug 15, 2014

Mercury is always within 28 degrees of the Sun as seen from the Earth. This means that in any chart Mercury is either in the same sign as the Sun or the one next to it. This visual phenomenon reflects the close relationship between Mercury’s role as the communication planet and the heart of identity, the Sun.

Mercury’s entry into the sign Leo puts a greater than usual emphasis on the need to speak from one’s heart as Leo is the home sign of the Sun. Ideally, this suggests that we are now in a period when direct communication is highly likely. Fiery Leo is less interested in analysis and filtered communication than in direct, pure, self-expression. Expect, then, that enthusiasm may carry the conversational day over objective reason and logic.

Mercury in Leo also touches on language as a form of entertainment. Leo loves the show, and now has the Messenger planet ready to do its bidding. We can expect more colorful speech with its focus on impact exceeding its interest in facts. Enjoy the images the mind will conjure now, but try not to be taken in by your own (or anyone else’s) hype. It’s amazing how seriously we can take ourselves, even when the goal is play. A little extra time to filter through the noise, and a little bit of detachment from the ego, can make this period one that is both joyful and productive.

Those born with Mercury in Leo include expressive rockers Bono, Mick Jagger, Jerry Garcia, David Crosby and Ringo Starr. More than just a touch of the bizarre is found in Merc in Leos Michael Jackson, Andy Warhol and Roman Polanski.

Actors Ben Affleck, Charlie Sheen, Sean Penn, Antonio Banderas and Anjelica Huston belong to this group, as do comics Lily Tomlin, Robin Williams and Peter Sellers. Mercury in Leo sports greats include Jimmy Connors, Mike Tyson and Magic Johnson, as well as ex-basketball star Bill Bradley and his fellow politicos Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Ironically, Clinton nemesis Kenneth Starr also has Mercury in Leo.

Other grand personalities who belong to this group are Jacqueline Onassis, Fidel Castro, Kathie Lee Gifford, financier Michael Milken, Virgin billionaire Richard Branson, newscaster Connie Chung and writers Alex Haley and Ray Bradbury.

Overview of Your Weekend Love Horoscopes for July 25 – 27

Weekend Love Horoscope

July 25-27: Intense Pleasure

Maria DeSimoneMaria DeSimone on the topics of love, horoscopes, astrology

Mars will change signs, moving into Scorpio late Friday evening. This will enhance your libido, and give you the courage to explore your more erotic side — including any forbidden urges you may have. While you might never act on these cravings, you will surely feel the desire to explore them. Either way, you’ll be discreet about it. Scorpio doesn’t like an audience.

In contrast, however, Leo does love attention. On Saturday, the Moon will enter party-time Leo, and it will become a New Moon by early evening. This will set the stage for plenty of emotional drama, as you are determined to pursue pleasure to the fullest degree possible.

You and your lover will have the chance to enjoy whatever brings you the most joy together. Attend a party, go to a casino, or take in a concert or show. Because Leo is the sign connected to romance, it’s possible you’ll meet someone new and find yourself falling madly in love fast. Love is grand this weekend, and the potential to physically enjoy every moment of it is equally outstanding. Make the most of it!
