Moon in Leo

Sep 18, 2014 to Sep 21, 2014

The lions are out today. Stand in the Sun and shake loose your mane. Leo is exuberant, courageous, playful and full of heart. It’s a Moontime that inspires heroic feats. What makes a hero? A crazy willingness to do what only you can do. I like how Bob Dylan sang it, “If I’d paid attention to what others were thinking, the heart in me would have died. But I was much too stubborn to ever be governed by enforced insanity. Someone had to reach for the rising star, I guess it was up to me.” More often we’re like that proverbial cartoon figure, momentarily gliding on air, ten stories high, then plummeting the minute we realize what we’re doing-self-consciousness and pride spoil the show. Avoid those egos squaring off around you. Lose yourself in the spontaneity of the moment. Be innocent and happy as a child. Play will nourish your heart.

Get A Jump on Tomorrow, Your Horoscopes for Wednesday, Sept. 10th

We want our actions to be practical today. However, we may have a hard time differentiating reality from what we desire. Although the ambitious Aries Moon encourages us to be proactive, we could build our plans on unrealistic visions as magnetic Venus opposes surreal Neptune. Our perceptions aren’t as accurate as we believe because of this heightened state of fantasy. We are drawn to experiences beyond the physical now, including magical encounters with music, poetry and nature.

Aries Horoscope

(Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Although you often know exactly what you want in love, your romantic goals aren’t very clear now. You could idealize your desires today, which is a lot of fun as long as you don’t assume they must be fulfilled. Too many concrete expectations hinder your current metaphysical journey. However, going with the flow may reward you with a very beautiful experience that can resonate in your heart for a long time to come.

Taurus Horoscope

(Apr 20 – May 20)

You may misread an emotional interaction today unless you’re paying careful attention to the subtle cues in every conversation. You might be feeling some ambiguity with respect to a developing relationship. Allowing your thoughts to wander around in the realms of possibility, although an enjoyable distraction, won’t necessarily lead to personal satisfaction. Instead, focus on the most immediate issues at hand in order to set your train back on the well-traveled tracks of reality.

Gemini Horoscope

(May 21 – Jun 20)

Although you plan to discuss practical issues at work today, your colorful fantasies are so enticing that you have trouble staying on topic. You may assume your position is clear but your coworkers might misunderstand your message. Unfortunately, you could convince yourself that further explanation isn’t necessary. However, it’s easy to avoid problems by unfolding your ideas one at a time and asking for feedback as you go along. There’s no reason to bury your dreams as long as you keep them in check while discussing more mundane matters.

Cancer Horoscope

(Jun 21 – Jul 22)

Your schedule could fall apart at the seams today if you don’t allow time for everything that needs to be accomplished. You might not be as prepared as you prefer as people aren’t sharing their expectations with you. Instead of floundering your way through the day in uncertainty, ask concrete questions to receive specific answers. Your friends and associates may surprise you with their down-to-earth responses that can save the day.

Leo Horoscope

(Jul 23 – Aug 22)

You could be living in a bubble of fantasy, even if you believe your self-assessment is grounded in reality. It may even be challenging to get a clear handle on what you can bring to the table. Unfortunately, facts are colored by your feelings now, and it’s nearly impossible to separate your objective perceptions from subjective opinions unless you make a conscious decision to do so. Thankfully, the potential for creating meaning in your life grows stronger when your intuitive visions are fully integrated.

Virgo Horoscope

(Aug 23 – Sep 22)

Normally, you can deftly manage the details of a complex project and keep all the separate tasks in order. However, it may be more effective now to save your critical analysis for another time. Instead of trying to limit your thoughts, give yourself permission to space out and explore unknown territory. Your imagination is your greatest asset today, so don’t be afraid to put it to work. The most creative solutions to your current dilemmas will be the ones that arise out of unstructured thinking. Listening to your intuition allows you to tap into your unexpressed ingenuity.

Libra Horoscope

(Sep 23 – Oct 22)

You are quite introspective today as your key planet Venus takes center stage in your 12th House of Privacy. If you must spend the day with others, you can still withdraw into your dream world while appearing as socially astute as ever. However, balancing your work obligations with your current desire to be alone might be a challenge. It’s not an either / or proposition; you can collaborate with your peers and still retreat into your imagination for inspiration whenever you wish.

Scorpio Horoscope

(Oct 23 – Nov 21)

You may have a very specific idea about which activities you want to share with your friends now, but your job might not give you the freedom you desire. You’re not one to run out on your responsibilities once you have made a heartfelt commitment. However, you can rearrange your schedule to finish up your work early without negatively impacting your productivity. Following through on your word is vital to your integrity, but so is pursuing your dreams.

Sagittarius Horoscope

(Nov 22 – Dec 21)

Conditions on the home front can be all too confusing, but they aren’t your biggest problem today. Things are not as they appear now and it’s tricky to gauge the relative importance of a particular thought. Taking a clever idea and turning it into an overly complicated strategy won’t make it any more successful. Keep your message simple and succinct. Misunderstandings that come to light in the next few days will make you glad that you strive for simplicity today.

Capricorn Horoscope

(Dec 22 – Jan 19)

Other people attempt to use ambitious schemes to lure you away from your previous commitments today. Unfortunately, you could grow overwhelmed if you can’t control your personal desires. There are days when you can build the road as well as travel along it. However, today’s planetary patterns are meant for exploring territories that are off the beaten track. Spend a bit of time wandering around, knowing that you’ll be back on the highway and heading toward your destination again in just a few days.

Aquarius Horoscope

(Jan 20 – Feb 18)

Although you have specific goals and a concrete plan in place, you can’t seem to find the inner resolve to achieve your goals today. People can see a gentler side of you as your hidden emotional tenderness slips through the cracks in your defenses. Instead of fighting it, consciously let others inside your otherwise impenetrable walls. Vulnerability is your strength now, not your weakness.

Pisces Horoscope

(Feb 19 – Mar 20)

Today you might fall in love with a beautiful person, a spiritual practice or a fleeting vision. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that you can tell the difference between reality and fantasy now. Nevertheless, fact and fiction might just morph into a magical moment that opens your heart. Don’t try to figure out what’s happening; just relax and enjoy the experience. Untangle the threads in the tapestry of life on another day after the clouds of illusion drift away.

Planet Tracker: Mercury in Leo, July 31 to August 15

Planet Tracker

Mercury in Leo

Jul 31, 2014 to Aug 15, 2014

Mercury is always within 28 degrees of the Sun as seen from the Earth. This means that in any chart Mercury is either in the same sign as the Sun or the one next to it. This visual phenomenon reflects the close relationship between Mercury’s role as the communication planet and the heart of identity, the Sun.

Mercury’s entry into the sign Leo puts a greater than usual emphasis on the need to speak from one’s heart as Leo is the home sign of the Sun. Ideally, this suggests that we are now in a period when direct communication is highly likely. Fiery Leo is less interested in analysis and filtered communication than in direct, pure, self-expression. Expect, then, that enthusiasm may carry the conversational day over objective reason and logic.

Mercury in Leo also touches on language as a form of entertainment. Leo loves the show, and now has the Messenger planet ready to do its bidding. We can expect more colorful speech with its focus on impact exceeding its interest in facts. Enjoy the images the mind will conjure now, but try not to be taken in by your own (or anyone else’s) hype. It’s amazing how seriously we can take ourselves, even when the goal is play. A little extra time to filter through the noise, and a little bit of detachment from the ego, can make this period one that is both joyful and productive.

Those born with Mercury in Leo include expressive rockers Bono, Mick Jagger, Jerry Garcia, David Crosby and Ringo Starr. More than just a touch of the bizarre is found in Merc in Leos Michael Jackson, Andy Warhol and Roman Polanski.

Actors Ben Affleck, Charlie Sheen, Sean Penn, Antonio Banderas and Anjelica Huston belong to this group, as do comics Lily Tomlin, Robin Williams and Peter Sellers. Mercury in Leo sports greats include Jimmy Connors, Mike Tyson and Magic Johnson, as well as ex-basketball star Bill Bradley and his fellow politicos Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Ironically, Clinton nemesis Kenneth Starr also has Mercury in Leo.

Other grand personalities who belong to this group are Jacqueline Onassis, Fidel Castro, Kathie Lee Gifford, financier Michael Milken, Virgin billionaire Richard Branson, newscaster Connie Chung and writers Alex Haley and Ray Bradbury.

Overview of Your Weekend Love Horoscopes for July 25 – 27

Weekend Love Horoscope

July 25-27: Intense Pleasure

Maria DeSimoneMaria DeSimone on the topics of love, horoscopes, astrology

Mars will change signs, moving into Scorpio late Friday evening. This will enhance your libido, and give you the courage to explore your more erotic side — including any forbidden urges you may have. While you might never act on these cravings, you will surely feel the desire to explore them. Either way, you’ll be discreet about it. Scorpio doesn’t like an audience.

In contrast, however, Leo does love attention. On Saturday, the Moon will enter party-time Leo, and it will become a New Moon by early evening. This will set the stage for plenty of emotional drama, as you are determined to pursue pleasure to the fullest degree possible.

You and your lover will have the chance to enjoy whatever brings you the most joy together. Attend a party, go to a casino, or take in a concert or show. Because Leo is the sign connected to romance, it’s possible you’ll meet someone new and find yourself falling madly in love fast. Love is grand this weekend, and the potential to physically enjoy every moment of it is equally outstanding. Make the most of it!

Planet Tracker: Sun in Leo, July 22 to August 22

Planet Tracker

Sun in Leo

Jul 22, 2014 to Aug 22, 2014

Leo occupies the middle of the summer in the northern hemisphere, the hottest time of the year for half the planet. It’s appropriate, then, that the sign Leo is associated with our source of heat, the Sun. This central star of our solar system is the hub around which all of the planets orbit. This position of centrality is basic to the Leo personality.

Leo represents awareness of self and is, arguably, the most self-centered sign of the zodiac. Taken negatively, this means that Leo can be blinded by the light of its own ego. Like a shining star, its brilliance can make it difficult to recognize the importance of others. Learning to share the spotlight is a core issue for many Leos.

The Ruler

The Sun in astrology is said to “rule” the sign Leo. That means that there is a natural affinity between this “planet” and sign. Being born with a planet in its “home” sign is considered to be an advantage by astrologers.

The energy of the Sun is thought to flow most easily in Leo. However, a planet in its home sign can also be overly simplistic and narrow in its expression. A lack of obstacles in not always a strength.

Leos, then, can benefit from humbling experiences. It’s important that they learn how to fail, so that they can reconnect to the sources of their creativity and confidence and begin again.

The Child

Leo is the fifth sign of the zodiac. It represents that point in the cycle when a child becomes aware of his or her personal power. The discovery of self is a wonderful thing, a fascinating experience in which the rest of the world is seen as a toy with which to play. From a healthy perspective, this offers a sense of confidence that encourages creativity and risktaking throughout life. However, a potential pitfall is for Leo to operate under the illusion that he or she is creating the world in which all of us live, rather than just being a part of it.

Growing up can be a challenge for everyone, but is particularly true for Leos. Moving from the excitement of possibilities to the real commitments necessary for accomplishment can be the measure of Leo’s potential for success. Learning to listen, too, can be vital for Leo to fulfill its considerable ambitions.

Stars vs. Constellations

It is natural for Leo to see him or herself as a star. Those born under this sign do best when their self-confidence is high. Yet, even though it is the hub of our solar system, the Sun is but one star among the uncountable billions in the sky. What appears to be the source of life from one perspective is just another point in a distant constellation from another. Leos who understand that everyone is a star are best able to build the co-operative relationships that can make life so satisfying.

Famous Leos

Leos tend to do well in the spotlight, so show business is full of them. Half the cast of Friends are Leos (Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry). So are Jennifer Lopez, Whitney Houston, Kathie Lee Gifford, Woody Harrelson, Sandra Bullock, Kevin Spacey, Laurence Fishburne, Robert De Niro, Edward Norton, Mick Jagger, Christian Slater, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Wesley Snipes, Billy Bob Thornton, Halle Berry and Steve Martin.

Leo pairs in the world of entertainment include Madonna and Sean Penn, Melanie Griffth and Antonio Banderas, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson and Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman (as reporters Woodward and Bernstein). Other Leo pairs are Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky and that perfect Leo couple: Jerry Garcia and Martha Stewart.

Sports stars Magic Johnson, Deion Sanders, Barry Bonds, Walter Payton and Patrick Ewing were all born with the Sun in Leo, too. Showmanship and heart helped make these athletes great.

Jupiter in Leo

It’s time to get happy!

Maria DeSimoneMaria DeSimone on the topics of leo, jupiter, astrology

Jupiter, the planet of expansion, faith and opulence enters exuberant Leo on July 16, 2014 and will remain in this open hearted sign until August 12, 2015. With lucky Jupiter in a confident sign all year you can certainly expect a time of abundant joy. The combination of Jupiter’s cosmic luck infused with Leo’s high spirited energy will open up doors over the next year that you may not have considered movable until now. Leo’s bold approach and childlike attitude leaves little room for the word “impossible.”

The planet Jupiter takes approximately twelve years to revolve around the Sun, and spends about one year visiting each sign to sprinkle liberally with cosmic blessings. So when Jupiter enters a new sign it truly is a time to rejoice!

Encourage your creative side

Jupiter in Leo will encourage your creative side and bring out the artist within. Pursue what stimulates your imagination because the more you play, the more you’ll be rewarded for your efforts. If there’s an area of your life where you’ve felt unable to experience delight, you’re about to be pleasantly surprised. Jupiter in Leo wants to renew your faith in what’s possible if you allow yourself to freely express your most vital, lighthearted self. Jupiter in Leo will help you take a chance in a certain area of your life this year and guess what? Your “no risk, no reward” attitude will pay off in ample blessings. All you have to do is take that chance.

Leo is a proud sign and commands respect. Over the next year you may feel that gaining respect, recognition or attention is more important. That’s ok — as long as you don’t become excessively prideful or boastful you’re making the most of what Jupiter in Leo has to offer. After all, with Jupiter here, you’re meant to have a year of enhanced confidence in your ability to shine your light!  It’s ok to bask in a little bit of glory and applause as long as you share the love. That won’t be a problem with Jupiter in Leo because your urge to give love will be bigger than ever now. In fact, your generous spirit will be infectious!

Leo rules the heart and while Jupiter is in Leo your heart will blow up to maximum capacity. This is an incredible gift — especially if you haven’t allowed yourself to open up and fall in love. Leo doesn’t just love by the way, he romances. It’s quite possible that this year you’ll be swept off your feet and have more fun with a playmate than ever before.

You’ve hit the jackpot!

What makes this cycle of Jupiter moving through Leo even more dazzling is the fact that three times over the next year Jupiter will create a gorgeous supportive trine to the planet of surprises, Uranus. When the planet of luck collides with the planet of sudden developments it literally suggests a swift and major windfall! It’s no wonder that astrologer’s have dubbed Jupiter-Uranus contacts the “Lottery Aspect.” In a certain area of your life, with Jupiter in Leo trine Uranus in Aries you will most certainly feel as if you’ve hit the jackpot!

Obviously we’re not all winning the lottery this year – so please don’t take the terminology literally. What you can count on however, is that Jupiter and Uranus working together will assure you that if you follow your heart and pursue your bliss then you’ll surely be rewarded. Essentially, Jupiter in Leo connected to Uranus in Aries will support all of your efforts to shine your authentic, creative light.

The dates of these amazing Jupiter-Uranus trines are:

September 25, 2014

March 3, 2015

June 22, 2015

So go ahead: Live, laugh, play, love, and take a leap of faith that supports self-actualization. Jupiter in Leo wants you to have a grand affair over the next year with the most important person of all – YOU!
