A Little Humor for Your Day – ‘Care & Feeding Of Your Computer’

Care And Feeding Of Your Computer

I’ve been working on a project at work to ensure all our end users know how to back up data in preparation for company wide computer upgrades. I’m tempted to hand this out to some of our users.
1. Never leave diskettes in the disk drive, as data can leak out of the disk and corrode the inner mechanics of the drive. Diskettes should be rolled up and stored in pencil holders.
2. Diskettes should be cleaned and waxed once a week. Microscopic metal particles can be removed by waving a powerful magnet over the surface of the disk. Any stubborn metallic shavings can be removed with scouring powder and soap. When waxing diskettes, make sure application is even. This will allow the diskettes to spin faster, resulting in better access time.
3. Do not fold diskettes unless they do not fit in the drive. “Big” diskettes may be folded and used in “little” disk drives.
4. Never insert a disk into the drive upside down. The data can fall off the surface of the disk and jam the intricate mechanics of the drive.
5. Diskettes cannot be backed up by running them through the Xerox machine. If your data needs to be backed up, simply insert two diskettes together into the drive whenever you update a document; the data will be recorded on both diskettes.
6. Diskettes should not be inserted into or removed from the drive while the red light is flashing. Doing so could result in smeared or possibly unreadable text. Occasionally the red light continues to flash in what is known as a “hung” or “hooked” state. If your system is “hooking” you, you will probably need to insert several dollars before being allowed to access the disk drive.
7. If your diskette is full and you need more storage space, remove the disk from the drive and shake vigorously for two minutes. This will pack the data (“data compression”) enough to allow for more storage. Be sure to cover all the openings with scotch tape to prevent loss of data.

Today’s Tarot Card for Nov. 28th is Justice

Justice

Thursday, Nov 28th, 2013

Traditionally, what has been known as the Justice card has to do with moral sensitivity and that which gives rise to empathy, compassion and a sense of fairness. Since the time of Solomon, this image has represented a standard for the humane and fair-minded treatment of other beings.

Often including the image of a fulcrum which helps to balance competing needs against the greater good, and a two-edged sword to symbolize the precision needed to make clear judgments, this card reminds us to be careful to attend to important details. It’s a mistake to overlook or minimize anything where this card is concerned. The law of Karma is represented here — what goes around comes around.

A much revered swami said “Simplicity is the nature of great souls.” There is a natural sense of art and genius in Simplicity. Keeping things simple produces solutions that are not only efficient but work well and are easy to maintain and build upon. Whether it takes a physical form or is an idea simple constructs please our aesthetic self. Simplicity is soothing, because you don’t have to fight your way through layers of complexity to see and understand the end result.

Feng Shui News for Aug. 28th – ‘Crackers Over The Keyboard Day’

On ‘Crackers Over The Keyboard Day’ let’s take a look at how best to clean something you probably use every single day. Research has shown that your computer’s keyboard can carry more bacteria than a toilet seat! First, shut down your computer and unplug it, if you can. Turn the keyboard upside down and shake it in order to remove any debris. Next, dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and brush in between each of the keys. You can also dip a cloth in alcohol and run it over the tops of the keys. Once done, plug the device back in and, of course, quit eating crackers around your keyboard! That should help to keep your computer keys as good as new.

Today’s Tarot Card for July 16th is The Sun

The Sun

Tuesday, Jul 16th, 2013

What has traditionally been known as the Sun card is about the self — who you are and how you cultivate your personality and character. The earth revolves around the sun to make up one year of a person’s life, a fact we celebrate on our birthday.

The Sun card could also be titled “Back to Eden.” The Sun’s radiance is where one’s original nature or unconditioned Being can be encountered in health and safety. The limitations of time and space are stripped away; the soul is refreshed and temporarily protected from the chaos outside the garden walls.

Under the light of the Sun, Life reclaims its primordial goodness, truth and beauty. If one person is shown on this card, it is usually signifying a human incarnation of the Divine. When two humans are shown, the image is portraying a resolution of the tension between opposites at all levels. It’s as if this card is saying “You can do no wrong — it’s all to the good!

Have A Blessed Sunday & We Will See You Tomorrow!

site_down

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. We are in dire need of a maintenance since we have not had one in a while. We are going to up-date the main page , the blog page (definitely still has June’s correspondence on it), clean up our storage and then hopefully put some graphics back on here. There is a lot to do and a short time to do it in.

Again I apologize but something’s are necessary to keep a functioning site up and going. I hope you have a very blessed Sunday and enjoy the rest of the weekend. The WOTC Team as well as myself will see you tomorrow.

Blessings, Peace, & Comfort,

Lady Of The Abyss
