Daily Feng Shui News for Oct. 22nd – ‘National Nut Day’

On ‘National Nut Day’ I want to share an ages-old quick tip regarding negating hangovers. Many older traditions tell that if you eat five raw almonds before imbibing that not only will you not get drunk but you’ll save yourself from the vagaries of a hangover too. Sounds nuts, but it really does work.

Daily Feng Shui News for Oct. 19th – ‘Evaluate Your Life Day’

‘Evaluate Your Life Day’ offers you the perfect opportunity to reflect upon whether the goals and dreams that you harbor are aligned with your head and heart. Some of us have a list of hope and wishes that was composed at a different time of our lives and they no longer align with who we are at this moment. That’s why it’s important to occasionally review this list and make sure that everything on it speaks to where we are at present. Today would be that day.

Daily Feng Shui News for Oct. 17th – ‘Black Poetry Day’

Today’s ‘Black Poetry Day’ gives me a chance to share one of my favorite poems (and pieces of advice) from one of my favorite black poets, Langston Hughes. This poem says: ‘I play it cool, And dig all jive. That’s the reason I stay alive. My motto, As I live and learn, is: Dig and Be Dug in return.’ So go ahead and play it cool. Dig all jive. And then you’ll find that you’ll dig and be dug in return. Great advice.

Daily Feng Shui News for Oct. 15th – ‘National Grouch Day’

Are you feeling a little grumpy today? That could be because it’s ‘National Grouch Day.’ But if you want to get out of that curmudgeonly mood, Feng Shui says that movement is the best way to do just that. Get up and hop up and down ten times in a row. This will shake that negative way of thinking right out of you while allowing you to return to your normal happy and healthy self.

Daily Feng Shui News for Oct. 14th – ‘National Face Your Fears Day’

Don’t be afraid to use this next exercise on ‘National Face Your Fears Day.’ If trepidation and anxiety are keeping you from addressing a certain agenda in your life, the most empowering thing you can do is embrace your courage and ‘look the lion in the eyes.’ According to New Thought teacher and author F. S. Shinn, ‘looking the lion right in the eye’ will cause the lion to back off and walk away. So the next time you don’t want to make that phone call or look at that bank balance, just do it and you’ll see that things are not as dire as you thought.

Daily Feng Shui News for Sept. 30th – ‘National Mud Pack Day’

On ‘National Mud Pack Day’ I want to offer a simple homemade remedy for a mud mask that will leave your skin silky smooth and clear. Mash a whole banana and add a teaspoon of baking soda, a half-cup of sour cream, a quarter-cup maple syrup and three-quarters cup honey. To this blend add a bit of mud and slather the whole thing all over your face. Leave it on for fifteen minutes before washing it off with cool water. Now you’re ready to face the world.

Daily Feng Shui News for Sept. 29th – ‘Confucius Quote’

A day dedicated to Confucius is also a day that demands one of his potent pieces of wisdom. The following quote of his has hung in my kitchen since I moved into my house over a dozen years ago and it always reminds me to involve my son in the things I want him to learn. The quote and the wise advice inherent is: ‘Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand.’ True words indeed.

Daily Feng Shui News for Sept. 27th – ‘Fish Amnesty Day’

Today is ‘Fish Amnesty Day’ and so I thought I would share an Eastern tradition that is believed to bring fortune and very good luck. In the Orient it is thought that if you let a fish go that the good karma that you’ve just accumulated will come back to reward you ten-fold. This is not just another fish tale.
