Blessed Mabon to All Our Friends Downunder

Untitled

From WOTC to all our readers in the Southern Hemisphere we wish you a happy and blessed Mabon. We hope your gardens have given you a good harvest this year. We send love and light to help you through the deary, cold months.

I hope the information, rituals, etc that I posted today and through out the last couple of weeks has help to increase your knowledge about Mabon. I  tried to do a good mixture of information to maybe give you some new ideas on ways to celebrate.

To me Mabon is a time I serve a meal almost completely from my vegetable garden with some type of meat to round it out. I tried to sneak tofu in one year in a stir fry but my husband knew immediately it wasn’t “real” meat. I tried to explain it was a little healthier then the usual steaks he grills to go with our veggies but he didn’t go for it so he made himself a hot dog to go with the stir fry…I just shook my head and enjoyed the meal.

I use leaves from our yard, flowers from our flower beds along with a candle I made at Imbolc to decorate the table every year. The candle is blessed to give continuous thanks to Mother Earth, Ra and the four elements for all they gave to help our gardens grow. I do not grow anything that is considered a fall flower, like Mums, because of allergies. I write a new “prayer” every year to give thanks not just for the food we have been given but also for having a warm, dry home to spend the winter in (as well as all the other seasons), blankets, enough food, warm clothes and boots to keep us warm and hopefully help to keep us healthy through out the cold months to come.

During the day I take out everything I have canned or frozen from the garden say a “prayer” of thanks for the ability to grow and have enough food for the cold months.

What you will need for the blessed candle:

1 -2/5.08 cm inch votive candle in red or yellow or orange

1 candle holder or eve better a heat proof plate with extra room under the candle

Enough sand to fill the bottom of the candle holder about 1/2 or 1.3 cm in deep

The blessing/spell I empower my candle with is:

Mother Earth, Ra, Ancient powers of Air Fire Water and Earth

I empower this candle to give thanks for all we have been given from our land

I ask you all to sit at our hearth

Until this candle burns down to the sand

The candle will go out once it reaches the sand. The melted wax will mix with the sand. I take this out and bury it in one of my flower beds or vegetable garden on a rotating basis. I feel this way the candle helps bless the garden or bed I bury it in. To bury it I dig down about 3-4 inches/7.62-10.16 cm and make the hole about the same size around. I loosely pack the dirt around the candle/sand disk and then mulch the garden or bed for the cold months. When the weather warms again the wax will flow into the ground and the sand just mixes with the dirt. The wax does not hurt the growth of anything because there isn’t much of it. If you only have one garden or flower bed bury the candle/sand disk in a different corner every year, this way you do not get a waxy build up in any one place.

Elemental House Cleansing

elements

To do an elemental energy cleansing of your home and all who live there. To do it open the windows, even if its only for 2-3 minutes.
With the windows open say this three times except the last line which is said only once:
“The element of Fire to burn all negativity from my home and all who dwell here,
The element of Air, I call upon you to blow all the ash of negativity out the windows.
The element of Water I call upon you to bring positive energy into my own and all who dwell here
The element of Earth I call upon you to ground all who dwell here.
I thank the element four,
and send you back to where you were before
As I will it So mote it be.”

Calendar of the Sun for Sunday, January 18th

Calendar of the Sun

Bruma

Colors: White and brown
Element: Earth
Altar: Upon a bare table lay a large pot shaped like a human figure, reclining, filled with earth. All should enter bearing two white cloths, one on each arm.
Offerings: Silence and meditation.
Daily Meal: Vegetarian

Bruma Invocation

Earth, you lie sleeping in silence,
And we can do nothing but wait.
We have breathed upon your first seeds,
We have sung your first green shoots
Up from the bare brown soil,
We have watered you with tears and sweat
And fed you with the remains of our meals,
We have cut down your bounty and saved it,
Yet this is not the time for seeds, or green,
But simply the long cold wait in the dark
Until the light waxes and the time comes again.
You are silent, and will not speak to us,
No matter how we cry out.
You are dormant, and will not sing to us,
No matter how we raise our voices,
For all things come in their own time,
And this is not the time for movement.
So we will sit with you, Earth,
We will watch over you as you sleep
And take part in your dreams
In silence, and wait for your awakening.

Chant:
Earth dreaming
Silent seeming
Winter’s vigil
We will wait for you.

(After the chant has been sung five times, all come forth to the altar. Each lays one white cloth gently over the pot, saying, “Blessed be the Earth in the time of winter.” Then each sits on the floor and places the other white cloth over their heads, and meditates on all that is sleeping and cannot be awoken. Silence in the House until Akte.)

Lady’s A Spell of the Day for December 26 – Stretching Your Psychic Muscles

Fantasy Images

Stretching Your Psychic Muscle

Tools Needed

Symbols of psychic work, such as a scrying mirror, tarot cards, runes, a crystal ball, etc. (you can often find little divination kits at some Pagan and New Age store.

A black candle in a holder you can safely pick up

Sage smudge stick

Small bowl of salt

Small bowl of water

Grimoire or Book of Shadows, if you have one, and a pen

Quarter candles (one each of red, blue, green, and yellow, or four white)

Goddess candle (white, cream, or silver— I like silver for this ritual) Matches and a candle snuffer

Optional: Amethyst tumbled stone or crystal (or any amethyst jewelry set in silver)

Optional: Black ribbon or yarn (long enough to lay on the perimeter of your circle)

Optional: Athame or wand

Optional: Cakes and ale

Before Starting

Be sure to cleanse your circle area carefully using sage or some cleansing incense. This ritual should be done at night in as quiet a space as possible.

Cleanse yourself using the sage smudge stick, paying special attention to the area of the third eye (middle of forehead) and heart. Concentrate on clearing and cleansing any negativity or blockages from your chakras.

Cast the circle. Use your finger, wand, or athame to point as you turn clockwise in a circle, visualizing a bright white light springing up around you. In addition, you may wish to lay the black ribbon, cord, or yarn out on the floor as a physical representation of your protected space.

Call the quarters. Turn to the east. Say:

I call the power of Air to watch over my circle and keep me safe. (light yellow candle)

Repeat for south (Fire, red candle), west (Water, blue candle), and north (Earth, green candle).

Invoke the Goddess. (If you want to call on a particular goddess for this ritual, Hecate or Athena are good ones to choose.) Hold your arms open, palms to the sky. Say:

Great Goddess, guide and guard me as
I open myself to the mystical world and
help me to expand my senses.
So mote it be.
(light Goddess candle)

Sit comfortably and handle whichever psychic tools you have chosen to use. Really let yourself feel them. Look at them and try to see beyond the surface to their potential to aid you in your psychic exploration. When you feel in tune with them, put them back on the altar.

Light the black candle, and hold it over your tool( s). Say:

With Fire I dedicate this tool to clear insight and a positive psychic practice.

Hold the candle in front of your third eye. Say:

With Fire I open myself to the exploration of worlds unseen.

Waft the sage smudge stick over the tool( s). Say:

With Air I dedicate this tool to clear insight and a positive psychic practice.

Waft the sage over yourself. Say:

With Air I open myself to the exploration of worlds unseen.

Sprinkle salt over your tool( s). Say:

With Earth I dedicate this tool to clear insight and a positive psychic practice.

Sprinkle a little salt over yourself. Say:

With Earth I open myself to the exploration of worlds unseen.

Sprinkle water over your tool( s) and say:

With Water I dedicate this tool to clear insight and a positive psychic practice.

Dab water on your third eye. Say:

With Water I open myself to the exploration of worlds unseen.

If using the amethyst, hold it to your third eye and then over your heart. Say:

With this stone, blessed by the Goddess, I ask for clarity and wisdom.

Pick up your tool again and hold it up to the moon (whether or not you are outside). Say:

Lady, I ask this boon: that I might see clearly,
interpret wisely, and use any knowledge
I find in the best way possible,
for the good of all and according
to the free will of all.
So mote it be.

Sit quietly for a minute, feeling the power of the ritual. Then use your tool (tarot cards, scrying mirror, etc.) and see what shows up. Write the results in your grimoire. If you don’t use a tool and just want to open yourself to the psychic realm, that’s fine too.

Have cakes and ale, or ground yourself by placing your hands onto the earth and sending any excess energy into the land.

Dismiss the quarters:

I thank the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water for their protection and assistance. Blessed be.
(snuff out candles)

Thank the Goddess. Hold your arms up. Say:

Great Goddess, I thank you for your wisdom and your guidance. May you be with me now and always. So mote it be.
(snuff out candle)

Open the circle. If you used a black cord, wind it up.

Turn counterclockwise in the circle and visualize the walls of light falling as you turn.

Put your tools away carefully.

Practice more often for a little while to make sure that your psychic muscles stay strong. Practice some form of psychic work every night for a week to keep your psychic muscles working. Or draw one tarot card or rune stone every day for a month. Write down what you pulled and what your intuition told you about that card or stone. Be sure to keep track of anything you predicted that happens!

WOTC Extra (1b) – Ways of connnecting with Earth-related

Dragon Comments & Graphics

 Ways of connnecting with Earth-related

The Element of Earth is physically represented by the land itself, and all natural forms existing within it and on it.

Trees and forests, rocks and caves, fields and groves are all associated with Earth and spending time in places that have one or more of these features is a great way to connect with the Earth Element.

Plunge your hands into fresh soil in a garden, walk barefoot in the mud or the grass, or climb a giant boulder and sit on it, feeling its energy resonate with yours. Lie down under the shelter of a leafy tree and feel the ground beneath you supporting your weight, keeping you stable and secure. Place the palm of your hand gently against the trunk of the tree and hold it there for a few moments . Notice its calming effect on your body and thank the tree for its nourishing and sheltering existence.

If you can’t get outside, you can practice attuning to Earth energy with a single house plant. Gently touch the soil and the leaves and thank the plant for keeping you company. Spend time noticing and appreciating of the Earth’s bounty that you bring home from the grocery store. Hold a potato or other root vegetable in your hands and smell the earthy scents. Doing this before preparing a meal can add much love, intention, and quality to your dinner! Be sure not to take Earth for granted, as it is the foundation of your existence and the ultimate source of all of your abundance.

The Elements: Earth

The Element

Earth

Earth doesn’t represent just our planet Earth, but indeed its magical symbolism is the part of the Universe that is stable, solid, and reliable. Earth is the foundation of the elements, the foundation upon which the rest of the universe live their lives. Earth is the dimension of abundance, prosperity, and wealth.

In magical work, earth rules all spells and rituals, business, money, employment, prosperity, fertility, stability and so on. Earth is a feminine element, its nurturing, abundant fertility , and moist, fruitful giving qualities that reveal the femininity of the element. Earth rules the North cardinal point and it is the place of greatest darkness and winter. The color of the Earth element is the green of fields, plants, trees, and life. It rules stone, image, true, and knot magics. Today Earth is symbolized by a pentacle or a stone.

May The Goddess Shine Her Love & Grace Down on You & Yours This Glorious Monday!

Wiccan Images

Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace
How sweet the Earth,
That bore a Witch like me.
I once was burned,
Now I survive.
Was Hanged but now I sing.
‘Twas Grace, That Drew
Down the Moon,
and Grace that Raised
the Seas,
The Magick in,
The people’s Will
Will Set our Mother Free.
We Face The East,
and breathe the winds,
That move across the Earth,
From gentle breeze to hurricane,
our breath will bring forth change.
Turn Towards the South,
and Feel the Fire,
That burns in you and me,
The Spirit’s flame shall rise again,
and Burn Eternally.
We Greet the West
Our Souls awash,
In Tides of Primal Birth,
Our Pain and blood, Our Tears and love
Shall cleanse and heal the Earth.
Reach in to North,
and Know your roots,
Down Deep ancestral Caves.
We find the Wisdom of the Crone,
of Circles we are made.
Amazing Grace
How Sweet the Earth
That bore Witches like We.
We once were burned
Now we survive
were hanged and now we sing.
Goddess bless,
So mote it be
Our Magick Spirals on,
Merry meet and Merry Part
and Merry meet Again.
