‘Birth & Days of the Week’

‘Birth & Days of the Week’

Monday’s child is fair of face,

Tuesday’s child is full of grace,

Wednesday’s child is full of woe,

Thursday’s child has far to go;

Friday’s child is loving and giving,

Saturday’s child works hard for a living,

But the child that is born on the Sabbath-day

Is bonny and blithe, good and gay.’

The Witches Spell for April 9th is Child Protection Spell

Gothic Comments

Child Protection Spell

Goal: To protect your child when you send her out into the world

Optional extras: A picture of the child if she is not present; a white or black candle

Note: The best time for this spell is on a full moon, when the light of the moon is bright, although it can be done any time it is truly needed. This is a simple prayer said from the heart and needs very little embellishment. Envision the goddess in her form as mother and see her protective energy surrounding the child. As necessary, substitute him for her, or adjust the wording for multiple children.

Great Goddess

You who are mother to us all

Watch over my child today and always

Keep her safe from harm and danger

Guide her feet as she walks her path

And be a light to guide her way.

Watch over my child when I cannot

Protect her with your fearsome might

And shine a mother’s love upon her.

Great Goddess

You who are mother to us all

Watch over my child today and always.

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – August 17

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – August 17

“If a child hasn’t been given spiritual values within the family setting, they have no familiarity with the values that are necessary for the just and peaceful functioning in society.”

Eunice Baumann-Nelson, Ph.D., PENOBSCOT

When we are born, we start with a beautiful empty mind ready to be given our beliefs, attitudes, habits and expectations. Most of our true learning comes from watching the actions of others. As we watch our family or relatives, whatever their actions and values are, so will be the children’s values and acts. If we see our families living a just and peaceful way of life, so then will the children. If we see our family shouting, arguing and hateful, so will it be for the children. The cycle of life – baby, youth, adult and Elder is all connected. If the older ones have good values, it will be connected to the children.

Oh my Creator, if there are values I have missed, it is not too late. I can get them from You. Teach me today Your spiritual values. Respect, trust, giving, honesty, wisdom teach me these.

Happy Tuesday, dear friends! Please don’t think I have went crazy…

Tuesday Images, Pics, Comments, Graphics
I was getting ready to do the correspondence for Tuesday. I wanted to do something different. I was looking up the meaning of Tuesday in the dictionary, on the web, etc. I threw the dictionary on the bed and said the heck with that. I am not a book person. So I started scrolling down the search page and I ran across something that I was very interested in. I don’t know if you will be or not but it is a poem about children’s qualities being born on a certain day. You know, “Monday’s child is full of face.” My husband and I were having  disagreement the other night about what child had what quality. Now this shows up,hmm! But anyway, I didn’t learn this when I was  kid. I don’t know if you were suppose to our not. I was interested in seeing it and I hope some of you are as well. Just don’t think I crazier, lol!

Traditional poem – Mondays child
The words and lyrics of Mondays child poem are used to associate children with the pattern and different names to the days of week. Mondays child is a very popular poem but the actual words of Mondays child are not well known! We have all learnt the days of the week as Mondays child intended but we cannot seem to remember the qualities of being being born on individual days! Sunday was traditionally referred to as the ‘Sabbath day’ so there is no specific reference to Sundays child. “Mondays child is fair of face”

Mondays child poem

Mondays child is fair of face,
Tuesdays child is full of grace,
Wednesdays child is full of woe,
Thursdays child has far to go,
Fridays child is loving and giving,
Saturdays child works hard for his living,
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.
