‘THINK on THESE THINGS’

‘THINK on THESE THINGS’
By Joyce Sequichie Hifler

No hope? How foolish, for as long as there is a breath of life there is hope. How many people have sprung to their spiritual feet at the challenge of “no hope” and proved there is always hope. Perhaps there’s nothing you can do for me, or I for you, but then again, perhaps there is.

As long as I do not impose the thought of hopelessness on you, and you do not convince me that your strength is all I can depend upon, then there is hope.

The things we sometimes call miracles are merely hopes activated by faith. And a wise teacher has said, “Give thanks for that which you need and soon you will have that for which you have given thanks.”

If hope seems to elude you, let us give thanks that it is ours again. Let us speak words that are positive and reassuring and throw ourselves unreservedly into faith and trust, disregarding every emotion that seeks to convince us otherwise.

To lie down and be discouraged is our temptation, but to hope and have faith is our wisdom.

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – January 3

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – January 3

“We don’t have to say or think what we don’t wish to. We have a choice in those things, and we have to realize that and practice using that choice.”

–Rolling Thunder, CHEROKEE

Having choices makes us fully accountable. No one can make us think anything we don’t want to think. No one can determine our behavior and how we act. It’s not what’s going on but how we look at what’s going on. If someone does something and we get upset, we can change how we look at it any time we want. We can tell ourselves in the morning that the day is going to be beautiful and that we have expectations that great things will happen. Doing this daily sets our mind to look for the joy and the excitement of each day.

Great Spirit, help me to choose my thoughts with Your wisdom.

January 3 – Daily Feast

January 3 – Daily Feast

January 3 – Daily Feast

When we last saw Essie she had been ashen and without the strength we see in her now. Now she sits flat on the ground, legs straight out in front, and reeds tumble across her knees and lie around her. Nimble fingers seek the perfect one to start a basket. Essie is close to our hearts. She has our Grandmother’s name. Her reticence does not inspire idle talk, so we ask what happened to change her. With a quick glance, she says, “God heal.” “Is it possible? So quickly and completely?” Hesitantly, she asks, “You got fast oven?” I say I do. “What make it work?” “Why, microwaves – energy. They change the molecules, the structure of the bread from cold to hot.” Seconds pass. She says, almost too softly, “Prayer energy. Make me well.”

~ I love a people who have always made me welcome to the best they had….who are honest without laws….who never take the name of God in vain…..who worship God without a Bible…. And I believe God loves them too. ~

The Goddess Companion

She created us, and so we dance.
She smiles down upon our dance.
She grows happily because we dance.
We are her grandchildren, and so we dance.
Our dance is our best prayer to her.
She laughs in happiness because we dance.
We are her children, and we must dance.
If were to ever forget, she would weep.
She would never cease her weeping.
She is the mother to whom we dance.
If only insect tracks marked our dancing grounds,
she would forget us too, and we would die.
She is the goddess who dances through us.
We are her children, and we must dance.
She created us, and so we dance.
~Shawnee Bread Dance Song

The universe dances around us and through us. Why is it so easy to forget that it is our nature to ceaselessly grow and change? Even when we sit silent and still, our breath flows and our blood courses and our mind whirls. Even when our life seems calm, inner forces bubble and surge, moving us toward new actions and new ideas and new insights.

We celebrate the goddess when we fully engage in this dance of life. As the Shawnee people of the great American woodlands realized, we most honor the universal mother by participating in her creativity. Life smiles on us most when we mimic her dancing spirit.

We are each the dance and the dancer and the dancing goddess. It is our task, as children of the earth, to dance the most beautiful dances we can, dances composed of the innumerable instants of our life. We do not control the setting; we do not control the lighting; we do not control the costumes. We control only the dance, the movement itself, the way we move through the circumstances of life. And that choice takes place in each moment. The most important choice we can make is to live gracefully in that moment.

Spell To Dispel Negative Energies

Spell To Dispel Negative Energies

This spell is to help dispel negative energies around you and involves making a talisman.

Take a small clear crystal, an acorn, some rosemary and mandrake and
a bit of green silk or cotton. It doesn’t need to be a big piece.
Cast your circle and creating a pouch from the herbs, bless them with
each element saying

“While this dwells within, there will be protection without. Cleanse
and charge this charm, element of against all who wish me ill!”

Now hang this somewhere not too obviously, like hiding it in a corner
or over a window. This will protect you till next Samhain when you
should burn it in the sacred fire, crystal and all. If it is not too
tainted, the fire will just cleanse the crystal and you’ll be able to
retrieve it from the ashes but I always recommend just getting a new
one.  ~source unknown~

Goddess Of The Day: CHIN MU

Goddess Of The Day: CHIN MU

Third Day of the First Moon (China)

Themes: Health; Longevity; Femininity; Magick

Symbols: Peach; Mulberry; Cats; Gold-toned Objects

About Chin Mu: Chin Mu is the Queen of the West in China, dispensing peaches that cure disease and grant eternal life to all who eat them. Chinese art depicts her as an ageless, beautiful woman living in a golden castle (a solar symbol), thereby getting her translated name of “golden mother.” She is also sometimes shown as a cat-woman, which represents her yin energy and connection with sorcery.

To Do Today: Honoring Chin Mu today brings health, long life, and a year filled with magick. One simple way to do this is by wearing a piece of gold jewelry or gold clothing.

Traditionally, Chinese women carry a bowl of hot vinegar into each room of the house today to protect those who live there from sickness all year. To try this yourself, slice up a peach (frozen if necessary) and add it to the heated vinegar (peach tea bags work, too, and release a nice fragrance). The peach invokes Chin Mu’s blessing. Walk clockwise around the home, visualizing it filled with golden light (you can pray or chant as you go, if you wish). If you’re pressed for time, eat a peach and drink some mulberry wine instead and internalize Chin Mu’s hearty energies just the same!

Finally, meditate on the feminine aspects of yourself and the divine (a good time to do this is during your morning shower, or while driving to work). Honor the women who have influenced your life, even if you do this just by saying thanks.

Greetings! Our theme is Hope.

Greetings! Our theme is Hope. This first week of the month we work with releasing and cleansing non-hope. Following today’s affirmation are comments about the affirmation and suggestions for your process. Make this a healing day!

I let go of attachment to anything that gets in the way of hope.

About Today’s Affirmation
This affirmation acknowledges that we may not be cognizant of what specifically gets in the way of hope. It is sometimes more efficient to release generally than specifically. We release any block or barrier, whether or not we know precisely what it is. Trying to figure it out can be time consuming, slow down the release, and return little for the effort. In addition, if we are giving our attention to the specific thing that we are wanting to release, we are resonating to it and therefore we draw it right back into our energy field.

About Your Process
All thoughts that have ever been thought still exists today. It is up to you to choose the thoughts you wish to explore. While you are proceeding through your own personal process, the choosing and the clearing may seem very personal, but do keep in mind that others have chosen and cleared before you. You are only responsible for walking and clearing your own path. You are not alone.
